Uso de corticoides e anti-histamínicos na prevenção da anafilaxia: uma revisão bibliométrica
Use of corticosteroids and antihistamines in the prevention of anaphylaxis: a bibliometric review

Resumo
Apesar de pouca evidência, é comum a prescrição de corticoides e anti-histamínicos como preventivos de anafilaxia. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma análise bibliométrica sobre o uso de esteroides e anti-histamínicos como medicamentos preventivos de anafilaxia. Para tanto, foi realizada busca ativa de artigos publicados até outubro de 2016 na base de dados Scopus contendo os termos “anaphylaxis and prevention and steroid or antihistaminic” nos campos título, resumo e palavra-chave. Realizada a leitura dos artigos selecionados, na íntegra, com busca específica do foco do estudo, que foi sobre o uso de corticoide e/ou anti-histamínico na prevenção da anafilaxia. Foram encontrados 292 artigos publicados até outubro 2016 na base de dados Scopus. Ao realizar busca dos 104 artigos completos elegíveis, foram incluídos no estudo apenas 49 artigos pela referência explícita aos medicamentos do foco de estudo como possíveis preventivos, e por serem estudos mais recentes, com disponibilidade e digitalização existentes. Nenhum dos 49 artigos lidos na íntegra abordou especificamente o papel dos corticoides e/ou anti-histamínicos na prevenção da anafilaxia. No momento, não há na literatura evidência de que o uso de corticoides e anti-histamínicos seja benéfico ou traga malefício na prevenção da anafilaxia.

Abstract
Despite the scarcity of evidence, prescribing corticosteroids and antihistamines to prevent anaphylaxis is a common practice. The objective of this study was to perform a bibliometric analysis of the use of these drugs for anaphylaxis prevention. In the present study, articles published until October 2016 were actively searched in the Scopus database using the terms “anaphylaxis and prevention and steroid or antihistaminic” in the title, abstract, and keyword fields. Selected articles were fully read and searched for the specific variable under investigation, i.e., the use of the corticosteroid and/or antihistamine to prevent anaphylaxis. A total of 292 articles published until October 2016 were initially identified in the Scopus database. When searching for the 104 full-length eligible articles, only 49 made clear reference to the use of the drugs to potentially prevent anaphylaxis and were digitally available. None of the 49 articles fully read addressed specifically the role of corticosteroids and/or antihistamines in preventing anaphylaxis. At present, there is no evidence in the literature that the use of corticosteroids and antihistamines is either beneficial or detrimental to the prevention of anaphylaxis.
